Electroencephalogram (EEG)
An electroencephalogram (EEG) measures electrical activity in your brain using electrodes placed on your scalp. Brain activity can be measured by electrical impulses and are active all the time. This activity shows up as wavy lines on an EEG recording. An EEG helps assess and diagnose conditions such as seizures, epilepsy, brain injuries, sleep disorders, and certain neurological disorders.
Ask your doctor for an EEG if you have had any seizures, unexplained changes in consciousness, memory problems, or abnormal brain function detected during a neurological examination.
At LifeSciences Imaging, we perform in-office routine and in-home ambulatory video EEGs to help us better detect a variety of brain-associated disorders and conditions. Routine EEGs usually take about 60 minutes to complete, which may be insufficient for detecting certain conditions. Ambulatory EEGs are longer-term measurements of your brain that can last up to 3 or 4 days, depending on your physician’s order, and can be done at home with monitoring
We provide easy access for our neurodiagnostic staff and interpreting physicians to remote in to view the live study. Our service includes live monitoring, pruning of raw data, and a report with physician interpretation. Our mobile team can also visit other physician’s clinics to perform routine EEGs.
